How do I book a castle?

When should I book?

Castles are allocated on a first come first served basis so the earlier you book the better to avoid disappointment.

Is there a deposit?

No. You will be required to provide two forms of ID, showing your address, name and signature, (e.g. a recent utility bill and a driving licence). This is required by our insurers, so if you fail to produce valid ID on the hire day, we will be unable to proceed with the hire.

Can I cancel the booking? And how much will it cost?

You can cancel the booking free of charge up until the delivery leaves our base. Cancellation after that time will result in a delivery charge being made. (Such charges will vary depending on the distance travelled).

Can I pay by Cheque or Credit/Debit Card?

No. All domestic hires are on a strictly cash on delivery basis. We offer the keenest prices and simply cannot afford to process cheques or credit/debit cards, sorry.

Do I have to be there when the Inflatable is delivered?


Yes. The hirer must be present to take delivery of, and to accept responsibility for, the castle. The hirer must read the safety instructions and sign the hire agreement otherwise the delivery will not be made.

Can you refuse to deliver?

Yes. Where the site is unsuitable, The weather conditions hazardous, The hirer not present or unable to provide proof of identity or unable to pay the hire fee, Active Bouncers reserves the right to decline to deliver. Active Bouncers reserves the right to not deliver under circumstance of Force Majeure.

What is a suitable site?

A clean, level area, free from overhanging foliage of sufficient size to allow 2 metres clearance in front and behind the inflatable and at least 1 metre on either side. The site should be no more than 25 metres from the nearest 13amp power socket. The site must be accessible to a trolley, that is gate widths of no less than 1 metre and no more than two steps in any one flight.

A flat lawn free from mud and dog mess is the best site for a bouncy castle but we can install on a hard standing or even indoors providing the venue meets all the suitability criteria.

Will you set up and inflate the bouncy castle for me?

Yes. This is required for insurance purposes and included in the daily hire fee. It also enables both Active Bouncers and the Hirer to inspect the inflatable and agree that it is in good condition.

At the end of the hire period the castle will be inflated and inspected for cleanliness and damage. A cleaning charge will be made if the inflatable is dirty. All damage must be paid for. Please take care, think how you would feel if we couldn’t supply you due to the thoughtlessness of the previous hirer.

How old are the inflatables?

All our inflatables are brand new for the 2007 season and come with the manufacturers guarantee and safety certificates. All inflatables meet the Health and Safety standards governing the Inflatable hire industry.

Are you insured?

Yes. Active Bouncers carries £5,000,000 Public liability insurance to protect you against its’ negligence and any damage or injury caused by failure of the equipment. However the hirer is responsible for the safe use of the equipment whilst it is in his or her care. The hirer is advised to seek advice on public liability before organising an event which would place him or her at risk.

Do you belong to any trade organisations?

Yes. Active Bouncers is a member of the British Inflatable Hirers Alliance, BIHA.

What happens if it rains?

All our inflatables are designed to be safe in the rain and come complete with RCD circuit breakers, waterproof plugs and raincovers. You also have the option to cancel on the day with nothing to pay (please note, cancellation must be made before your inflatable leaves our base).

Where do you deliver?

Our local area is approximately a 15 mile radius of Hull. Within this area delivery is included in the daily hire fee. Please see the Area page for details of areas covered and delivery charges.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes. For block or bulk bookings, childcare organisations, charity events, etc. Talk to me I’m sure we can work something out!

What are the delivery and pick up times?

The latest pick up will be 20:00, (8:00 pm), or twilight whichever is sooner, unless special arrangements have been made. Next day pick up can be arranged for an additional fee provided the equipment is not required elsewhere at the same time and that the site is secure and the hirer accepts all risks.

Are there age limits?

Yes, For our smallest bouncers that are designed for children of 6 years or under. Others are designed for children of 15 years or under. A maximum weight limit of 85kg, (10 stones), also applies. Our insurance does not cover usage by anyone over the age of 15 and certainly not adults on those castles designed for minors. We do have castle's designed for adult use, please contact us for more information .

Can the adults have a go when the kids have gone to bed?

Only on the Adult Inflatables. The smaller inflatables are not designed for adults and our insurance excludes use by anyone over the age of 15 years.

Do you really use extra bouncy air?

No. But we do use 1.5 HP fans on all our castles and maintain them regularly. This means the air pressure is higher and the castle is bouncier as a result.

How long do I get the castle for?

You can order the castle for a few hours or you can keep it all day, the price remains the same at a daily rate. The delivery time will be arranged to suit the hirer, within reason. In the local area the earliest delivery time will be 9:00am, later in other areas, The latest pick up will be 20:00, (8:00 pm), or twilight whichever is sooner, unless special arrangements have been made. What does the price include?

The price includes delivery (please have a look at the Area Page to check if your area is covered), collection and inflation. A Crash Mat, RCD Adaptor, 25mtr Extension Lead, Stakes, groundsheet and raincover are also included.

Sand-bags for use on hard standing areas and are at no extra cost.

How does the castle operate ?

All units run on an electric blower and 25mtr extension lead with RCD adaptor. These are supplied at no extra cost.

How much does the castle cost to run ?

An average unit costs approximately between 50p and £1 for a days use.

Do I need to keep the castle plugged in ?

Yes, while the castle is in use it needs to be switched on to keep it inflated. The castle will need to be inflated for inspection when it is collected so please leave the blower connected.

How long does it take to set up a castle and pack it away ?

An average unit takes approximately 15 minutes to set up and 1 minute to inflate
and 5 to deflate and another 25 minutes to pack away.

What are the safety features of your castles ?

• All our bouncy castles have been triple stitched with reinforced beds for safety.
• All units have a safety step fitted and crash mats are available on request.
• All units conform to British Safety Standards and meet the flame-retardant requirements of BS5438/BS5308.
• All units come complete with RCD circuit breakers.

On what days can I hire a Castle?

Our Bouncers are available seven days a week, including bank holidays.

Can I keep the castle overnight?

The latest that we allow castles out until is 8pm or twilight, whichever is earlier, an additional charge will apply after 8pm unless special arrangements have been made. However, most of our castles can be kept overnight for an additional 50% charge. Please note, this only applies in secure gardens, you must accept full responsibility for the castle, and also remove the electrics and fan to an indoor location.

Why do I need ID?

Two forms of ID are required, one showing your address (e.g. a recent utility bill) and another showing your name and signature (such as a driving licence). This is required by our insurers, so if you fail to produce valid ID on the hire day, we will be unable to proceed with the hire.

What preparation is needed before you arrive?

Please make sure that any hallways, side passages, or any other access to your garden/venue are clear of obstacles etc. We require a minimum 1 metre width access depending on the size of the unit hired. Ensure that the bouncer site is free of any sharp objects, excessive mud and dog mess. We will need access to an electricity power point within 25m. If the site is unsuitable we reserve the right to cancel the booking.

How much space is needed for a bouncer?

The sizes quoted on this site are outside measurements. You need to allow a minimum space of 2 metres at the back and front of the castle, and 1 metre each side. This is to allow for access, movement of the castle and the blower (at the rear). There must not be overhanging branches within 1 metre of the castle. If the site is deemed unsuitable, we reserve the right to cancel the booking.

Can you set up a bouncy castle on a slope?

Only very slight slopes. This would also determine the way the bouncer faces. (Opening would have to be up slope).

Can you set up a bouncy castle indoors?

Yes, depending on the venue. Please ensure that you have measured the height of the ceiling! Sandbags are used to anchor the inflatable on hard surfaces.

Can you provide someone to supervise the castle?

This is a service not normally provided. But please feel free to ask for a quote.

Do you provide safety instructions?

Yes. We do provide safe operating instructions as part of the Hire Agreement which you must read and sign.

What sort of surface do you need for the inflatable?

Inflatables situated outdoors need to be set up on a flat grassy area to ensure that the unit can be staked down. It must be clear of sharp objects such as rocks etc, not muddy or covered in dogs mess. We reserve the right cancel the booking and not to install our equipment on unsuitable ground.

What if I need to cancel?

No problem, just give us a call. However, we would appreciate as much notice as possible. If you cancel on the doorstep or whilst we are en-route, we will have to charge a fee to cover the cost of delivery.

Do I need to keep the blower going?

The blower must be kept going constantly the castle is in use. In the event of high winds occurring, just switch off and let the bouncer deflate.

Can I rely on you?

We have grandchildren and wouldn’t want them let down and so we won’t let yours down. Also, service and reputation is everything. Most of our bookings come from word of mouth.
Active Bouncers reserves the right to not deliver under circumstance of Force Majeure. So if there is a riot in your street or an earthquake we may have to let you down, sorry!

Can I collect the castle?

Sorry, but for insurance and safety purposes, we must deliver and install the bouncer.

How safe is it?

All our bouncers are safety tested yearly. on delivery, your site will be inspected and you will be advised of any potential safety hazards, making safe bouncing for your children. If the site is inherently unsafe, we reserve the right to cancel and not install the bouncer. You, the hirer, are responsible for ensuring proper adult supervision of the castle and the safety of the children using the equipment. Safety first!

Why can’t adults use the castles designed for minors?

Our castles each have a specific age limit for safety and insurance reasons.

Can we move the bouncer?

No, once erected the inflatable must not be moved even if it rains.
